APNIC participated in Internet Week 2024, held in Tokyo, Japan from 19 to 27 November 2024.

The event featured two main segments, an Online Week and Conference Week, which included virtual and hand-on programs and in-person discussions promoting the spread of Internet infrastructure technology and the development of the Internet. The event’s theme was ‘Connect, Expand, Enjoy’.

APNIC activities:

  • Jia Rong Low and APNIC EC Chair, Kenny Huang, participated in a panel discussion on ‘The Future of Internet Infrastructure’. Jia Rong emphasized the necessity for the Internet community to adapt to evolving challenges, including privacy, security, emerging technologies, and governance concerns like policy processes, regulatory efforts, and the multistakeholder model.
  • Jia Rong and Che-Hoo Cheng also attended the JUNET 40th anniversary celebrations where Jia Rong gave a speech thanking the Asia Pacific Internet pioneers for their selfless work that laid the foundations of the Internet we have today.
  • Aftab Siddiqui, Jia Rong and Che-Hoo had an introductory meeting with the WIDE team, visiting Keio University, where they discussed several ongoing projects.
  • Kenny, Jia Rong and Che-Hoo took the opportunity to meet with the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications. Vivek Nigam also joined them in meeting with JPNIC where they discussed future collaborations and other important Internet-related matters. The group also visited APNIC Members and other stakeholders within the Japanese Internet community.
  • Jia Rong also conducted an interview for JPNIC Talk Lounge.
