RPKI workshop participants hard at work.

APNIC participated at the Vietnam Internet Exchange Network Operators Group 2019 (VNIXNOG 2019) meeting in Nha Tran City, Viet Nam, from 22 to 23 August 2019.

The 2019 event focused on peering and the DNS, the essential role of the IX system, optical transmission, network security, and new emerging technologies. There was also a pre-event workshop held on 22 August, jointly run by the Japan Network Information Center (JPNIC) and APNIC, on RPKI deployment.

APNIC activities:

  • George Michaelson presented on why it is important to secure Internet routing.

  • George also helped conduct the RPKI workshop (which included a hands-on lab) alongside JPNIC’s Taiji Kumura to around 35 participants.
  • George Kuo and George Michaelson met with Vietnam Network Information Centre (VNNIC) representatives to discuss registry management, whois data consistency, and future cooperation.
