
APNIC participated in the Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association (PITA) 29th Annual General Meeting (AGM), Business Forum and Expo, held from 29 April to 2 May 2025 in Honiara, Solomon Islands.
The event, hosted by Our Telekom (Solomon Telekom), welcomed over 280 delegates from 30 economies to discuss topics under the theme “Digital Nations and Smart Blue Continent: Strengthening Digital Sovereignty and Connectivity for a Resilient Pacific Future.” View the agenda for more information.
APNIC activities:
- Jia Rong Low presented on ‘Regional Development for an Open, Stable, and Secure Internet’ during the Regional Insights session.
- Terry Sweetser facilitated the Peering Workshop, where he discussed the fundamentals of Internet peering and opportunities for peering in the Pacific.
- Vivek Nigam presented on ‘Resizing of IPv4 assignments for IXPs’ at the Peering workshop.
- Terry presented insights on Internet development in the Pacific and shared APNIC’s efforts to contribute to both technical capacity and operational resilience in the region at the Exploring the Evolving Internet Landscape session.
- Terry also delivered a tutorial on ‘Internet Security for Managers’ for industry managers and leaders, which focused on essential knowledge, comprehending and applying the essential elements for effective security implementation and incident response.
- APNIC hosted a booth, welcoming APNIC Members and expo attendees, answering their questions relating to APNIC membership, RPKI, Peering and DASH.
- Ellisha Heppner, APNIC Foundation, conducted site visits to several APNIC Foundation grantees.
