APNIC to be the Local Host for IETF 119

IETF 119 will be held in Brisbane, Australia from 16 to 22 March 2024, with APNIC acting as the Local Host, and fellowship support provided by the APNIC Foundation. It will be only the second time an IETF meeting has been held in Australia in 38 years.

As the Local Host, APNIC will act as a liaison between the IETF and the APNIC community and provide local logistics support for conference arrangements, including visa application support for international participants. The APNIC Foundation is committed to providing fellowship support to increase diverse participation from the Asia Pacific region. More details will be available in early 2024.

IETF meetings serve as forums for the global Internet community to collaborate, discuss, and work towards standardizing protocols and technologies that form the foundation of the Internet. These meetings involve a range of activities including Working Group sessions, plenary sessions and technical presentations, BoFs, a hackathon, and Internet Research Task Force (IRTF) meetings.

IETF meetings play a pivotal role in the development of open Internet standards with the aim of ensuring the Internet evolves in a coordinated and interoperable manner. For more information on IETF 119, see the important dates and deadlines and information for new participants.
