Paul Wilson with the NetHui 2019 Fellows.

APNIC proudly supported and participated at NetHui 2019 from 3 to 4 October 2019 in Wellington, New Zealand.

The theme for NetHui 2019 was ‘Safety, inclusion and well being on the open Internet’ and included keynote speeches by the Prime Minister of New Zealand, the Rt Hon Jacinda Ardern, and Jillian York from the Electronic Frontier Foundation.

APNIC also sponsored the fellowship program which brought community representatives from around New Zealand to Wellington.

APNIC activities:

  • Paul Wilson and Pablo Hinojosa attended several sessions, including the keynote speeches, and panels on extremist online content where initiatives such as the ‘Christchurch Call‘ were discussed, and inclusion sessions, where societal features of New Zealand’s Internet community were discussed.
  • Paul participated in workshops on Data & Privacy, Blockchain, and IoT.
  • Pablo participated in workshops on sustainability, disinformation and Internet openness.
