Event Wrap: IDNOG 5, Indonesia

APNIC staff participated in the recent Indonesian Network Operators Group (IDNOG) meeting, IDNOG 5, held in Jakarta on 26 July 2018, as well as in the three-day workshops held prior to the event.

Highlights of the conference included the keynote presentation from Syahrul Mubarak who spoke about Indonesia’s new cybersecurity institute (BSSN) as well as presentations on security mitigation, network automation and network management. More than 400 people registered for the one day conference.

APNIC activities:

  • Sanjaya gave the welcome speech during which he spoke about the healthy growth of the Internet ecosystem in Indonesia thanks to lightweight regulation, strong entrepreneurship, and great collaboration and information-sharing activities, such as IDNOG. He also called for more Indonesian participation at regional and global events, “as we are all part of the global Internet”.
  • Wita Laksono presented on the APNIC Services and Policy Development Process, and  assisted current and potential Members, answering their questions on membership and IP address requirements.

  • Prior to the conference, Sheryl Hermoso facilitated a three-day Network Security Workshop for around 34 participants.

  • Following the conference, Wita took the opportunity to meet with APJII, the National Internet Registry for Indonesia, to discuss future training opportunities.
