Event Wrap: PhNOG 2017, Philippines

APNIC staff participated at the Philippines Network Operators Group event, PhNOG 2017, and the inaugural Philippine IP Peering Forum, held in Manila from 6 to 10 March.

The theme of this year’s NOG event, ‘Our Philippine Internet’, examined the growth and evolution of the Philippine Internet ecosystem including infrastructure, policy, and global support. Around 13 local and international experts presented to 100 attendees at the PhNOG conference day on 6 March, highlighted by keynote speaker Allan S Cabanlong, Assistant Secretary of the Philippines Government’s Department of Information and Communications Technology.

The inaugural Philippine IP Peering Forum, held in conjunction with PhNOG, was equally well attended with presentations from several content providers and regional Internet Exchanges.

APNIC activities:

  • Sheryl (Shane) Hermoso, presented at the conference day on RPKI activity in the APNIC region, including local statistics and how APNIC Members can create their ROAs in MyAPNIC.

  • Anna Mulingbayan met with APNIC Members who attended the events, provided advice in response to resource requirement questions and visited local APNIC Members PLDT, Globe Telekom and Eastern Communications.
  • Sheryl and Anna also conducted a three-day IPv6 training workshop for 10 participants from 8 to 10 March.
