The Latin America and Caribbean Network Information Centre (LACNIC) recently held their second meeting for the year – LACNIC 26 – in San José, Costa Rica.

The five-day program included tutorials and plenary sessions, and Member and policy meetings in parallel with tracks organized by FIRST, LAC-IX, LACNOG and LACTLD.

Internet of Things (IoT) was an overarching theme of the meeting program, which included a four-hour tutorial on IoT, a keynote presentation on this subject, and a panel discussing regulatory and security aspects of IoT deployment.

APNIC activities:

  • Pablo Hinojosa presented an APNIC policy update to the LACNIC policy forum.

  • Pablo also participated in a ceremony that celebrated the conclusion of the process that led to the IANA functions stewardship transition. On that same day, the US government made the announcement about the expiration of the historical IANA functions contract.
