
APNIC participated in the 20th annual meeting of the Internet Governance Forum (IGF 2025) held in Lillestrøm, Norway, from 23 to 27 June 2025.
The event brought together 4,865 participants from around the world to participate in workshops, talks, and sessions relating to the event’s overarching theme, ‘Building our Multistakeholder Digital Future’. View the schedule for more information.
APNIC activities:
Joyce Chen participated in the following sessions:
- IGF Support Association — Sustainable Funding for IGF & NRIs roundtable, where she emphasized the importance of local and regional initiatives in shaping inclusive digital governance frameworks. She noted their critical role in promoting the multistakeholder model and advising governments on Internet-related policy.
- Policy Network on Internet Fragmentation session, which focused on strengthening inclusive dialogue around the risks and realities of Internet fragmentation.
- Multistakeholder Perspectives: WSIS+20 & the Technical Layer session, which discussed the critical role of the technical community in maintaining an open and secure Internet.
- Multistakeholder digital governance beyond 2025 session, where she highlighted APNIC’s role in Internet governance, particularly in ensuring equitable access to IP addresses and Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) throughout the Asia Pacific region.
