The Asia Pacific Internet community is getting ready for APNIC 60, taking place from 4 to 11 September 2025 at the Furama Resort in Da Nang, Viet Nam. This major event is your chance to help shape the policies that govern how Internet number resources — IPv4 and IPv6 addresses and Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) — are managed across our region.
Why participate?
APNIC’s Policy Development Process (PDP) is open, transparent, and driven by the community — that means you. Whether you’re a network operator, researcher, student, or just passionate about the future of the Internet, your input matters.
Policy decisions at APNIC are made by consensus at Open Policy Meetings (OPMs), not behind closed doors. Much of the work happens on the Policy SIG mailing list, where anyone can take part in discussions, regardless of experience level or location.
Two proposals are already on the table
There are already two policy proposals submitted for discussion at APNIC 60.
- Prop-162: A proposal to eliminate the unnecessary publication of APNIC Member organization contact details in the APNIC Whois Database.
- Prop-164: A proposal to change the minimum allocation size of IPv6 resources to allow for more accurate reporting of usage.
This is a great time to review the proposals, join the mailing list, and have your say.
These proposals set the stage for meaningful discussions at the meeting, and your voice can help influence the outcome. Whether you agree, disagree, or want to suggest changes, your contribution is welcome.
Got your own policy idea?
If you’ve spotted a gap in the current policy framework, have operational experience worth sharing, or want to make improvements, now is the perfect time to submit a proposal. You don’t need to be a policy expert — the Special Interest Group (SIG) Chairs and APNIC Secretariat are here to help.
Get involved today!
There are two ways that you can get involved with Internet number resource policy:
- Join the Policy SIG mailing list.
- Register for APNIC 60 (early-bird rates end 31 July).
Whether it’s your first time participating or you’re a long-time contributor, APNIC 60 is the place to help shape the future of Internet number resource policy in the Asia Pacific region. Read the proposals, join the conversation, and make your voice heard!
