APNIC Academy’s new IPv6 Certification (Associate) proved popular when we launched the ‘Alpha Trial’ last year in Nepal and the Philippines, with 62 participants achieving certification. Insights gained from the Philippines and Nepal alpha trials helped refine the content and delivery for this year. Four beta trials will be delivered in 2025, beginning with Bangladesh and Thailand in May. Two more locations for 2025 will be announced as soon as possible.

Course structure

The associate-level certification focuses on the basics of the IPv6 protocol, combining both theoretical knowledge and practical skills.

The course covers the fundamentals of IPv6, including addressing, header structure, routing, and transition techniques. It is designed to equip participants with both a solid understanding of IPv6 concepts and the practical skills needed to apply them in real-world situations.

The course is divided into 10 workshop modules, delivered in a five-day, face-to-face boot camp format (Figure 1). The certification concludes with a knowledge-based examination, which you can read more about in the  APNIC Academy IPv6 Certification Syllabus. Each module builds on the previous one.

Examination

Participants can earn the APNIC Academy IPv6 Certification (Associate) by passing the IPv6 Certification exam, held onsite at the end of the face-to-face workshop. The exam evaluates both knowledge and practical application of IPv6 concepts, and a minimum passing score is required to achieve certification, ensuring that participants meet the necessary standards.

The exam consists of multiple-choice questions and practical scenarios designed to assess understanding and ability to apply IPv6 concepts in real-world situations. It is conducted online in a controlled classroom environment and lasts 90 minutes.

Participants who pass the exam receive an official IPv6 Associate-level certification from APNIC, acknowledging their expertise and readiness to manage IPv6 networks.

Get certified in Thailand

While the Bangladesh intake is already closed, we encourage participants from Thailand to apply now.

The Thailand intake is sponsored by THNiC and runs 26-30 May 2025 in Bangkok (with the venue to be confirmed). Spaces are limited to 40 participants. The cost is AUD 100 for APNIC Members or AUD 200 for Non-Members. Applications close on 31 March 2025.

Visit APNIC Academy for detailed information, FAQs, and feedback. We look forward to your participation and feedback as we work to enhance IPv6 knowledge and skills within the APNIC community.
