I’m pleased to share that APNIC’s 2025 Activity Plan and updated 2024-2027 Strategic Plan are now published.

APNIC has typically published its Activity Plans at the Annual General Meeting in February. Following community requests that the plan be shared earlier, we’ve changed our planning cycle to ensure the Activity Plan is completed, approved by the Executive Council, and published before the new year begins.

In terms of the Activity Plan’s highlights:

  • You may notice slight changes to the format of the plan, which aligns with some important revisions to the 2024-2027 Strategic Plan (more below)
  • The four pillars – Registry, Development, Engagement and Capability remain, including high-level budget allocations to these pillars
  • Objectives (short-term actions to achieve a goal) are now defined more clearly, including examples of the specific outcomes to be achieved. We’ve also added deadlines to strengthen our accountability to you in delivering the target outcome(s)

The Strategic Plan was scheduled to be reviewed at the end of 2025, at the halfway mark of the plan’s four-year term. However, after stepping into this role in October, and taking in staff feedback from their experience implementing the plan this year, I proposed to the Executive Council to bring forward the review.

The Executive Council has also approved the updated 2024-2027 Strategic Plan. In terms of highlights:

  • The plan now aligns more closely with the APNIC By-laws’ Objects
  • The plan now contains clearer Purpose Descriptions and Goals (achievable longer-term outcomes)
  • The Goals cascade to Objectives in the Activity Plan, which will help the Secretariat focus on delivery and provide greater alignment between the Strategic Plan and the annual Activity Plans

Together with the APNIC team, we are committed to deliver what we promise in the Strategic Plan and Activity Plan. We look forward to continuing to serve all our Members and the community in 2025.
