Dave Phelan presenting on DDoS in Oceania and the Pacific at NZNOG 2024.

APNIC supported and participated in the New Zealand Network Operators Group (NZNOG 2024) held in Nelson, New Zealand from 8 to 12 April 2024.

The event welcomed 176 participants to discuss and share information on topics including Internet governance, digital safety, DDOS and DNSSEC. View the program more information.

APNIC activities:

  • Geoff Huston delivered a presentation titled ‘Networking in the Penumbra’, where he discussed the shift of the Internet into ubiquitous use of payload encryption and what this means for network operators.
  • Geoff also presented on ‘Starlink’, explaining what it is and how it performs.
  • Dave Phelan presented on ‘DDoS in Oceania and the Pacific’, sharing insights on what is happening with DDoS in the region.
  • Warren Finch and Community Trainer Etuate Cocker conducted a workshop on ‘Advance Routing with RPKI’ to four participants.
  • Dave Phelan conducted a workshop on ‘IPv6 Deployment’ to 12 participants.
  • Elly Tawhai and Tom McGowan met with several APNIC Members and answered questions relating to APNIC products and services.
