APNIC’s Pablo Hinojosa participated at the UNIDIR Cyber Stability Conference 2018 in Geneva, Switzerland, on 26 September 2018.
The United Nations Institute of Disarmament Research (UNIDIR) holds a yearly Cyber Stability Conference for stakeholders to discuss pragmatic steps towards a more stable and predictable cybersecurity environment. The focus of the 2018 conference was on identifying options and pathways to prevent and mitigate ICT-related conflict.
The UNIDIR Conferences are mostly governmental, however, they welcome other stakeholder groups to inform cybersecurity discussions, such as those happening in the UN General Assembly First Committee.
APNIC activities:
- Pablo was invited to speak in the panel, ‘Preventing and Mitigating the Risk of Conflict Stemming from the Malicious Use of ICT: Opportunities & Mechanisms for Cooperation at the Regional Level’. He provided some perspectives from the technical community, and talked about regional mechanisms available to prevent and mitigate cyber risks through collaboration and capacity building.
