The Cross Community Working Group on Enhancing ICANN Accountability (CCWG-Accountability) will release its proposal for public comment shortly.
In this podcast I talk with Izumi Okutani, Policy Liaison of JPNIC and one of the members of the CCWG-Accountability.
In their most recent meeting, CCWG-Accountability decided in favor of a new model, the Community Mechanism as Sole Member Model (CMSM). The CMSM would be established under ICANN Bylaws as the one and only member of ICANN. The CMSM would be composed of ICANN’s Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees.
Izumi gives a thorough analysis of this model and her view on how the numbers community is affected by it and how it should participate in the next comment period starting today.
In a parallel process, the ICG will begin the public comment period for the Interim Final Proposal to Transition the Stewardship of the IANA Functions on 31 July, with an end date of around 8 September. The ICG will hold two identical webinars on the 4th and 8th of August to provide an overview of the proposal. See the ICG website for more information.
