We’re gearing up for what promises to be an exciting 11 days at the upcoming APRICOT 2015 Conference.
The program is now finalized and offers you a wide variety of sessions to choose from. Here are some highlights of what to expect.
Make sure you attend the Opening Ceremony, where Keynote Speakers, IANA’s Elise Gerich will talk about the basics of IP number allocation, and University of Hawaii System’s David Lassner will share his thoughts on research and education networking for the Pacific Islands.
As well as the usual sessions you are familiar with, for example APOPS and Peering, we have two days with many sessions dedicated to network security. Day 8 (Tuesday, 3 Mar) focuses on Security in general with four Security and three APCERT sessions, including a session on RPKI Deployment. Day 10 (Thursday, 5 Mar) has sessions on DNSSEC.
If you’re not attending the Workshop Week, check out the many tutorials available. We’re fortunate to have leading trainers from the region and globally attend to share their expertise.
At the APNIC Plenary on Day 9 (Wednesday, 4 Mar), Internet experts will share their thoughts and insights on the effects of the mobile Internet and IPv6. Join the discussion and get a high-level view of this rapidly changing operational field.
For the first time, we are having a Network Operator Group (NOG) Birds of a Feather (BoF) on Day 8 (Tuesday, 3 Mar). NOGs play an important role in bringing together network operators to share their knowledge and experiences. Be sure to attend if you’re interested in establishing, maintaining, or expanding NOG activities you are engaged in.
You will also have numerous opportunities to network and socialize with your peers. As well as the morning and afternoon teas and lunches, you can attend the social events during the week. We are excited about the “Tech Girls Get Together” (TGGT) social event on Day 9 and note, it is open to anyone who is interesting in joining.
Don’t forget the three SIGs being held; the NIR and Cooperation SIGs on Day 8 (Tuesday, 3 Mar), and the Policy SIG on Day 10 (Thursday, 5 March). As a reminder, we are having Chair and Co-Chair elections for the Cooperation and the Policy SIG. Be sure to attend the Policy SIG to have your say on the proposals under discussion.
Finally, APNIC Members are welcome to attend the APNIC Annual General Meeting (AGM), on Day 11 (Friday, 6 March). There’ll be updates from the Secretariat and from various events during the week. We’re also holding the APNIC Executive Council (EC) election, with on-site voting open from 09:00-14:00 (UTC+9) on Friday, 6 March.
This is just a taste of the program. We look forward to seeing you there!
