APNIC staff attended Infotel 2014, held recently in Colombo, Sri Lanka, from 24 to 26 October 2014.
Organized by the Federation of Information Technology Industry Sri Lanka (FITIS), Infotel 2014 brought together members of the ICT industry to exhibit their solutions and services and showcase technological advancements and innovation under the theme of “For a smarter tomorrow’.
Infotel 2014 welcomed over 39,000 visitors who visited 235 booths. The exhibitors included hardware and software vendors, educational and training institutions, telcos, and academia.
APNIC activities:
- APNIC had a booth at the event, attended by Vivek Nigam and Pubudu Jayasinghe from the Member Services team. Throughout the three days, they were able to meet up with many current and potential APNIC Members to discuss their IP resource and membership needs.
- After the event, APNIC also held a gathering for invited Members and potential Members to find out more about APNIC services. Twenty-seven participants attended, with many asking questions related to APNIC Training, eLearning, new policies, whois updates and more.
- Vivek gave a presentation about APNIC’s services, with a focus on service improvements and Pubudu gave an introductory update in Sinhalese about APNIC to the potential Members who attended.
- Rajeewa Abeygunarathna from APNIC Member, LEARN, gave an update on the RIPE Atlas anchor project that they are deploying and thanked APNIC for it’s support of the project. Vivek and Pubudu distributed five Ripe Atlas probes at the gathering.
