Partnering with two Asia Pacific sub-regional organizations: The Pacific Islands Telecommunications Association (PITA) and the South Asia Network Operators Group (SANOG), APNIC is piloting APNIC Sub‑Regional Forums (SRF) to strengthen collaboration within the Asia Pacific region and support a more resilient global Internet.

Designed to complement the annual APRICOT and APNIC conferences, these sub‑regional events work within existing forums to provide more accessible opportunities, particularly for those unable to travel. They will provide Members opportunities to discuss technical and policy issues, highlight local priorities, and help APNIC better understand how to improve community support.

APNIC SRFs are delivered in collaboration with established sub-regional events; this may be APNIC participating within an existing program, or hosting sessions and Member discussions alongside the event.

The structure and scale of engagement will vary by sub-region, shaped in collaboration with partners and adjusted over time based on community feedback.

APNIC SRFs begin in the Pacific at PITA 30

APNIC’s first SRF will take place in conjunction with the PITA 30th Annual General Meeting, Business Forum and Expo, held from 13 to 17 April 2026, reflecting the long‑standing relationship between APNIC, PITA and the wider Pacific community.

APNIC has worked with the PITA programming committee to contribute targeted activities aligned with Pacific priorities, including:

These activities are designed to support PITA 30 while offering Members additional opportunities for dialogue with APNIC.

Strengthening partnership with the Pacific community

APNIC’s ongoing commitment to the Pacific will also be reflected in the signing of an updated Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between APNIC and PITA during PITA 30.

The updated MoU will reaffirm a shared commitment to technical capacity building, community development, and long‑term collaboration in support of Pacific Internet infrastructure. It builds on many years of cooperation and provides a foundation for continued joint initiatives in the region.
