APNIC participated at the ITU Global Symposium for Regulators (GSR) 2019 in Port Vila, Vanuatu, from 9 to 12 July 2019.

ITU GSR 2019, organized by the International Telecommunications Union and the government of Vanuatu, brought together ICT regulators and stakeholders to discuss the theme “Inclusive connectivity — the future of regulation”. Regulators at the event identified and endorsed a set of regulatory Best Practice Guidelines to encourage digital connectivity for all.

APNIC activities:

  • Klée Aiken participated as a panellist in the session “Putting people at the centre: consumer protection and the changing consumer role”, on the role of regulators in ensuring consumer protection, user security and trust in a smart, data-driven economy.
  • Klée joined the Chief Regulatory Officers meeting (CRO) for non-government stakeholders, which developed an outcome statement (PDF) for input into the official proceedings.
  • Klée participated in the event as a resource for delegations interested in understanding and engaging with the Internet addressing community, and held side-meetings with regulators, APNIC Members, partners, and AP* representatives.
