APNIC participated at the 58th meeting of the APEC Telecommunications and Information working Group (APEC TEL 58) in the city of Taipei from 30 September to 5 October 2018. The aims of APEC TEL 58 were to enhance cybersecurity, improve connectivity with robust infrastructure, and promote sustainable and inclusive growth with ICTs.
APNIC has been an official guest of APEC TEL since 2009, regularly providing insight into regional IPv6 deployment at the Development Steering Group (DSG) and more recently taking part in the Security and Prosperity Steering Group (SPSG).
- Adli Wahid gave a presentation on social media security at the SPSG Workshop: Public-Private Dialogue on Status, Trends, Opportunities, and Threats of Social Networking.
- At the DSG, Klée Aiken presented an update on the status of IPv6 deployment in the APEC region, focusing on five-year trends and industry motivations to deploy IPv6.
- At the SPSG, Klée gave an update on APNIC’s activities and new service initiatives.
- Klée also presented the Guest Statement at Plenary 2.
