Sunny Chendi presenting on the APNIC PDP and the current proposals under discussion.

The Indian Registry for Internet Names and Numbers (IRINN), the National Internet Registry for India, held its fifth Open Policy Meeting (OPM) on 25 May 2018 in Delhi, India.

Over 30 IRINN affiliates, including a few board members from the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI), participated at the event, which was opened with welcome remarks by Shubham Saran, General Manager of NIXI and Abishek Gautam, Manager of IRINN, who presented the IRINN Update.

Rajesh Chharia, Internet Service Providers Association of India (ISPAI) president, NIXI board member, and APNIC Executive Council Secretary, announced the launch of the Indian Network Operators Group (INNOG), to be held from 27 to 30 August 2018, with the venue to be confirmed.

APNIC activities

  • Sunny Chendi presented on the APNIC Policy Development Process (PDP) and provided a brief summary of the current policy proposals under discussion.

  • Sunny also moderated a session where the IRINN PDP was discussed, noting the importance of being proactive in these discussions at a national level and then sharing this at a regional level at APNIC conferences. IRINN staff have undertaken to share the APNIC policy proposals under discussion to the IRINN mailing lists to encourage feedback and comments.
  • Sunny also met with representatives of INSIG, the ISOC Delhi Chapter and INNOG hosts to discuss planned activities and APNIC participation.
