APNIC participated in PacNOG 34, held in Apia, Samoa from 25 to 29 November 2024.
The event welcomed 45 participants and included a one-day conference and a four-day hands-on workshop. The conference featured a mix of plenary sessions focused on cybersecurity, IPv6 deployment, interconnection strategies, and building capacity for network engineers in the Pacific. APNIC activities:
- Davel Phelan presented on the latest IPv6 deployment stats from the Pacific region.
- Dave also presented on Internet peering, where he gave a detailed outline of IP transit, Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) and shared its benefits through worked examples.
- Jordan Previtera presented on DASH, discussing the tool’s features including how to generate reports and alerts on routing status, suspicious traffic and MANRS readiness.
- Dave and APNIC Community Trainer, Jethro Tambeana, conducted a four-day Internet Operations Workshop for 28 attendees.
