APNIC participated in the inaugural Asia Pacific Internet Governance Academy Australia (APIGA Australia), held from 20 to 21 November 2024 in Melbourne, Australia.
The two-day event, hosted by auDA, featured interactive sessions and mentoring from Australian and Asia Pacific industry experts designed to develop the next generation of leaders in Internet governance and the digital ecosystem.
APNIC activities:
Joyce Chen participated as follows:
- Presented on the fundamental principles of how the Internet operates during the ‘How does the Internet work?’ session.
- Presented at the ‘APNIC & IP Numbering Policy Development Process’ session where she provided an overview of how policies are developed and implemented within APNIC.
- Presented on IGF and NRIs, highlighting the importance of these platforms in shaping Internet governance, during the ‘Overview of the Global IGF and National and Regional IGF initiatives (NRIs)’ session.
- Spoke at the ‘Current Internet governance challenges and threats to multi-stakeholder model’ and ‘Way forward: How to participate in IG processes’ sessions.
Joyce was also mentor for participants throughout the event, and Subha Shamarukh participated as a fellow.
