The APNOG Board met on 22 August 2024 for its regular monthly meeting. The agenda included a discussion on the situation in Bangladesh and the long-planned delivery of APRICOT 2025 in Dhaka.
Due to travel advisories from stakeholder economies around the world advising ‘Do not travel’ and ‘Avoid non-essential travel’, the APNOG Board agreed that APRICOT 2025 cannot proceed in Dhaka. This is in line with the APNOG Board’s policy of reviewing the feasibility of any APRICOT conference six months before the event’s commencement.
The APNOG Board understands that ISPAB and the Bangladesh Internet community will be deeply disappointed by this result, but unforeseen circumstances beyond the control of both ISPAB and APNOG have necessitated this decision. The APNOG Board welcomes future proposals to host an APRICOT in Bangladesh.
The APNOG Board is currently working on backup locations for APRICOT 2025, as has been the long-term policy, with the most likely location being SE Asia. An announcement of the APRICOT 2025 venue will be made in October 2024.
