APNIC staff participated at the first regional NOG event to be held this calendar year – PhNOG 2016 – hosted by the Philippines Network Operators Group in Manila on 25 January.
The theme of the one-day event was ‘All over IP – touching the different facets of Internet, entwined to our daily lives’, on which local and foreign experts shared their knowledge and experiences with around 100 attendees from the local technical community.
The meeting was arranged with the generous assistance of the Philippines Department of Science and Technology’s Advanced Science and Technology Institute (DOST-ASTI) and the Trans-Eurasia Information Network Cooperation Centre (TEIN*CC).
APNIC activities included:
- George Michaelson, APNIC’s senior R&D scientist, presented on RPKI activity in the APNIC region, including local statistics
- Sheryl (Shane) Hermoso, APNIC’s senior training officer, provided one-on-one help to local Members who wanted to explore RPKI and understand how to create their ROA objects in MyAPNIC
- While in the Philippines, Shane assisted with facilitating a three-day Routing I Workshop hosted by Philippine Cable TV Association for 30 of their staff.
