The APNIC Executive Council (EC) has endorsed the three proposals reaching consensus at the Policy SIG during the APNIC 44 Open Policy Meeting (OPM) in Taichung, Taiwan.
The proposals were:
- prop-116: Prohibit to transfer IPv4 addresses in the final /8 block
- prop-121: Updating “Initial IPv6 allocation” policy
- prop-122: Updating “Subsequent IPv6 allocation” policy
According to the APNIC Policy Development Process (PDP), the three proposals were returned to the mailing list for the final comment period following the OPM. The Policy SIG Chairs determined consensus was maintained after the comment period and asked the EC to endorse the proposals.
After reviewing the proposals to ensure they had reached consensus under the PDP, the EC endorsed all three proposals on Thursday, 16 November 2017.
To provide certainty to the community, the EC asked the APNIC Secretariat to immediately implement the three new policies. Implementation of prop-116 lifts the EC-imposed moratorium on 103/8 block transfers.
The Secretariat implemented all three proposals on Monday, 20 November 2017.
An editorial comment period for the draft policy document will close on Tuesday, 19 December 2017.
