APNIC Director General, Paul Wilson, has been re-elected as chair of the Multistakeholder Steering Group of the Asia Pacific Regional Internet Governance Forum (APrIGF). Paul will hold the chair position until 2017.
The APrIGF is an open forum for discussion of Internet Governance issues which are important in the Asia Pacific region. It is part of the world-wide IGF process, which includes national and regional events, and the annual global IGF event, due to be held in Brazil in November 2015.
More than 150 regional delegates, including 30 youth participants, attended the most recent APrIGF meeting, APrIGF 2015, held in Macau during July this year. An outcome from the event was finalizing the APrIGF 2015 Macao Synthesis Document, which aims to identify items of common interest and relevance to Internet governance within the Asia Pacific region.
APrIGF 2016 will be held from 27-29 July in Taipei, Taiwan. We hope to see you there!
