2015 APRICOT e yōkoso.
We are proud to be welcoming you to Fukuoka, Japan for the 20th APRICOT summit, APRICOT 2015. Held jointly with APAN 39 and APNIC 39, the APRICOT 2015 conference week features a variety of interesting sessions on the technologies shaping the Internet. In addition to the usual technical sessions such as APOPS and Peering, some of the highlights include:
- Numerous sessions dedicated to cyber and network security, including four sessions with APCERT
- The APNIC Plenary, with Internet experts discussing IPv6 and the mobile Internet
- An IANA Stewardship Transition Update session
- A NOG BoF and Update session
We’re delighted to have many distinguished speakers attend to help share their expertise. We welcome our Keynote presenters, Elise Gerich and David Lassner to the Opening Ceremony, and look forward to hearing Ryugo Hayano talk about the lessons learned from the Fukushima Dai-ichi accident at the Closing Plenary.
For those of you who cannot attend in-person, most of the sessions will be webcast, and live transcripts will be available for many of the sessions.
To help with your scheduling, download the APRICOT meeting app (no longer available) to help build your own schedule, see who else is attending, and view the venue maps.
If this is your first time to an APRICOT conference, have a look at our Newcomers Page for information on how to maximize your conference experience. We encourage you to participate in the Policy Special Interest Group (SIG) and have your say about how Internet number resources are managed. If you’re an APNIC Member, the APNIC Annual General Meeting on Friday is a must-attend to learn about APNIC’s activities in 2014 and provides an opportunity for you to ask questions and provide suggestions to the APNIC Executive Council (EC).
You’ll have ample opportunity to network and socialize at the many Social Events on offer. You’re very welcome to attend the Tech Girls Get Together (TGGT), facilitated by JPNIC’s Izumi Okutani. Despite it’s name, it’s open to everyone and is a fun, casual get together over lunch.
Don’t forget, we have a series of APNIC community elections at APRICOT 2015. Nominations are still open for the APNIC Policy SIG Chair and Co-Chair elections (closing 23:59 (UTC+10)), Wednesday, 4 March, and for the Cooperation SIG Chair and Co-Chair elections (closing 23:59 (UTC+10)), today Monday, 2 March. Online voting and proxy appointment closes at 09:00 (UTC+9) on Wednesday, 4 March for the APNIC EC election, with on-site voting taking place on Friday, 6 March from 09:00-14:00 (UTC+9).
We hope you have an enjoyable APRICOT 2015. It’s going to be a busy week, but if you need any help, please visit the Member Services Lounge or talk to one of the friendly APNIC staff.
